The specter of January 6th continues to cast a long shadow over Donald Trump's 2024 presidential aspirations, as Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows disqualified him from appearing on the state's Republican primary ballot. In a historic decision, Bellows cited Trump's "encouragement of violence" during the Capitol riot as grounds for his exclusion.

"Mr. Trump's actions of January 6th, 2021, constitute an intentional effort to interfere with the lawful, peaceful transfer of power," Bellows declared in a statement. "Such an act is fundamentally incompatible with the duties and responsibilities of the office of President of the. . .
