A Spirit Airlines flight bound for Port-au-Prince, Haiti, experienced a frightening encounter on Monday when it was struck by gunfire while attempting to land. The aircraft, originating from Fort Lauderdale, was reportedly approaching Toussaint Louverture International Airport when gunfire from the ground hit the plane. The Miami Herald reports that the aircraft was subsequently diverted to the Dominican Republic, where it managed a safe landing.

Initial reports indicate that gunfire hit the plane as it descended, with at least one flight attendant reportedly grazed by a bullet. . .
