Speaker Johnson Shuts Down the House to Prevent Vote on Epstein

The House of Representatives was scheduled to begin its annual August recess on Wednesday, but the lower Chamber was sent home early by House Speaker Mike Johnson to avoid a vote on releasing documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. President Donald Trump claimed those pushing for the release of information are no longer members of his political movement. 

Explaining the move, Johnson claimed Democrats were using the Epstein issues as a “political battering ram.”
