Indianapolis, IN - Dustin Passarelli, a former U.S. Army soldier, has been handed a 55-year prison sentence in connection with a shooting death that ultimately led to the establishment of a hate crimes law in Indiana. The sentencing took place on Wednesday, a month after Passarelli was convicted for the 2019 murder of Mustafa Ayoubi. The incident occurred near Ayoubi's apartment complex following a road rage incident, according to police reports.
