House Republicans Push for Stopgap Funding Bill to Avert Government Shutdown

House Republicans are working to pass a stopgap funding bill to prevent a government shutdown as the current funding deadline approaches this Friday. The proposed legislation aims to maintain federal funding at existing levels through September 30, the end of the fiscal year, while reallocating resources to increase defense spending by $6 billion and reducing non-defense discretionary spending by $13 billion.
