A Gaza-bound humanitarian vessel carrying Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and other international activists is intercepted by Israeli naval forces in the eastern Mediterranean, intensifying diplomatic tensions and drawing global scrutiny. The ship, part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, is diverted to Israel's southern port city of Ashdod after what the coalition calls an “assault in international waters.”
