Judge Orders Release of Columbia Student Detained by ICE After Citizenship Interview

A federal judge orders the release of Mohsen Mahdawi, a Columbia University student and prominent pro-Palestinian activist, after he was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents during a citizenship interview earlier this month. Judge Geoffrey Crawford rules that Mahdawi, who has been held at an ICE facility in Vermont since April 14, should be allowed to return home as his immigration case proceeds, citing due process concerns and insufficient justification for his continued detention.
