New Knesset Bill Would Require Death Sentence for Palestinians, But Lesser Punishment for Israelis 

Members of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ruling coalition have proposed a new bill that will require courts to hand out a death sentence to Palestinians convicted of terrorism and murder. However, Israelis guilty of the same crime will receive a lesser punishment. 

The legislation was proposed by the Otzma Yehudit party, led by National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir. Ben Gvir has called for executing all Palestinians accused of terrorism and using the death penalty to ease the overcrowding in Israeli prisons.
