State Dept Spox: US Supporting Syrian Government Fight 

The State Department Spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said Washington was assisting Damascus' fight against terrorists in Syria. The Damascus government is led by the founder of al-Qaeda in Syria. 

During a State Department briefing on Tuesday, Bruce said, “As Ambassador [Tom] Barrack has said, the United States continues to support the Syrian Government as it fights against forces seeking to create instability and fear in their country and in the broader region.”
