U.S. Navy Intercepts Houthi Missile and Drone Attacks in Gulf of Aden

On December 1, 2024, U.S. Navy destroyers USS Stockdale and USS O’Kane successfully intercepted a coordinated missile and drone attack launched by Yemen's Houthi rebels in the Gulf of Aden. The attack targeted two U.S. warships and three American merchant vessels navigating through one of the world's most vital maritime corridors. In a decisive response, the destroyers destroyed three anti-ship ballistic missiles, three drones, and one cruise missile before they could inflict damage. No injuries or structural damage were reported, underscoring the effectiveness of the Navy's advanced defense systems.
