U.S. Trade Deficit Hits Record $140.5 Billion in March Amid Pre-Tariff Import Surge

The U.S. trade deficit soars to an unprecedented $140.5 billion in March 2025, marking a 14% increase from February’s revised figure of $123.2 billion. Government data released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis shows that imports climb 4.4% to a record $419.0 billion, with a significant jump in consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, capital equipment, and automobiles. Meanwhile, exports edge up by only 0.2% to $278.5. . .
