US Places New Sanctions on Houthi Network

The Treasury Department has placed sanctions on dozens of individuals and companies with alleged links to Ansar Allah. Since taking control of Yemen in 2014, the Houthis, or Ansar Allah, have been under a US-backed blockade or sanctions. 

“The Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is designating 32 individuals and entities and identifying four vessels in Treasury’s largest sanctions action to date targeting Iran-backed Ansar Allah,” a statement said.  “The networks targeted today are part of the Houthis’ global illicit fundraising, smuggling. . .
