US to Ramp Up Spending to Curb Chinese Influence

The Trump administration is ramping up spending to counter Chinese influence. 

The Associated Press reported that it had reviewed documents showing that the US is prepared to spend $175.8 million to build undersea communication infrastructure for El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Haiti. The information campaign is dubbed “Countering CCP Control of Caribbean and Central America Undersea Cables project.”

“The United States must respond to the CCP’s growing economic, technological, and diplomatic leverage around the world which undermines our national interests,” the document says.
