Vatican Confirms Pope Francis Died of Stroke on Easter Monday as Mourners Gather at St. Peter’s

The Vatican officially confirms that Pope Francis has died of a stroke, ending a historic and transformative papacy. According to a death certificate released by Vatican officials, the 88-year-old pontiff passed away in his private apartment at 7:35 a.m. local time on Easter Monday. The document states that the cause of death was a cerebral stroke that led to coma and irreversible cardiocirculatory collapse. Pre-existing conditions, including diabetes and hypertension, were noted as contributing factors.
