In a high-profile case dubbed the "Black Swan Murder," former ballerina Ashley Benefield, 32, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the 2020 shooting death of her estranged husband, Doug Benefield, 58. The sentencing, handed down by a Manatee County judge on December 3, 2024, also includes 10 years of probation following her prison term.
