China Accuses U.S. of Undermining Trade Talks Amid Semiconductor Dispute

On May 19, 2025, tensions rise between China and the United States as Beijing accuses Washington of undermining a newly negotiated trade agreement by issuing warnings against the use of Chinese-made semiconductor chips. The accusation comes just nine days after both countries agreed to a 90-day pause on tariffs during high-level economic talks held in Geneva.

A spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce calls the U.S. advisory a "discriminatory and hostile act" after the U.S. Commerce Department issued a warning urging American industries to avoid using Chinese-manufactured chips, particularly Huawei’s Ascend AI. . .
