Navy Sailor Faces Espionage Charges for Alleged Chinese Spying in San Diego Court

A Navy sailor accused of spying for the Chinese government is back in federal court in San Diego, facing charges of espionage and bribery. Jinchao Wei, formerly stationed on the USS Essex, stands accused of selling sensitive military information to Chinese intelligence officials.

The case against Wei, brought to light by investigative efforts led by KGTV, alleges that the sailor clandestinely transmitted videos, photographs, and documents to a Chinese intelligence officer. The nature and scope of the information exchanged remain under investigation, raising concerns about potential national security implications.
