Decision Delayed: 13-Year-Old Murder Suspect Remains in Adult Jail

Miami-Dade County, FL: A Miami-Dade County judge has postponed his decision on whether a 13-year-old boy charged with the first-degree murder of his mother will be moved from the adult jail to a juvenile detention facility.

Judge Richard Hersch will wait until at least Thursday to make a final ruling, citing the need for further review of evidence and legal arguments. He indicated that he would be inclined to follow Florida state law, which dictates that the boy should remain in the adult facility unless the defense can demonstrate a violation of his. . .
